Marilee Coots
Marilee and her husband Calvin homeschooled their daughters for 11 years, using the neurodevelopmental approach to work with their own family. They began working with families of children with learning, attention, and special needs challenges in 1995. She is certified at the master level by ICAN, the International Christian Association of Neurodevelopmentalists. Some of her additional training includes Samonas sound therapy, oral motor therapy, rhythmic movement training, and other training in development, movement, and reflexes. Marilee consults with parents to help children and adults reach more of their full God-given potential.
Nanci Lynch
Nanci has been married to Tim Lynch, a business owner and non-traditional pastor for more than 25 years. They have seven children, two in college and the other five still being home educated. Nanci began tutoring almost 40 years ago. She worked in special education for 10 years and has been home educating her own family for the last 20. Nanci has a BA in liberal arts, two teaching credentials, and a master’s degree in special education. She has taught in numerous classroom settings including public, private, Christian, church, camp, missions, and ministry. Her passions are healthy, united families and loving communication within them and through them. She loves the Word of God and the Savior who is the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Dr. Anita Miller
Dr. Anita Miller has a doctorate in Christian education and is a certified reading specialist in the states of California and Arizona. She holds teaching credentials in the state of California and Arizona as well. She holds the following master’s degrees: reading and curriculum, special education, and educational administration. She specializes in dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome. She homeschooled all of her seven children, for a total of 32 years. She currently has her own business which specializes in teaching and helping children with learning disabilities, especially in the areas of reading and mathematics.
Attorney Griffith Vertican
Attorney Griffith William Vertican will share his inspiring story about his personal struggle to overcome severe learning disabilities and how he went from being a student who was supposedly “never going to read” to instead winning the nation’s largest collegiate debate tournament and graduating from law school with his Juris Doctorate degree. Come hear the secret to his success and why he says “I owe it all to the three things my parents taught me.” Griffith William Vertican is the 2007 National Champion in collegiate debate. He and his partner finished the NPDA national tournament with a perfect 14-0 record. He was two-time Captain of the Speech and Debate Team at Point Loma Nazarene University where he was also Senior Class President and received a B.A. in Communication in 2007. In May 2012 he graduated from Trinity Law School receiving a Juris Doctorate degree and an award for Trial Advocacy. He passed the California Attorney Bar Exam in 2013. Carleen Paul
Carleen Paul is the owner of Skills for Success Learning and former homeschooling mom. She earned an undergraduate degree in child development and a master’s degree in special education. She holds California multiple subject and learning handicapped teaching credentials, as well as specialist certificates in resource and language development. Her teaching experience includes more than 25 years with regular and special education students. Carleen has received specialized training in Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, Barton Reading and Spelling System, LANGUAGE!, Project Read, Orton-Gillingham, RAVE-O and other teaching strategies. In 2005, she was endorsed by the Association of Educational Therapists by completing all of the rigorous requirements to earn the title Professional Education Therapist.
