As we wrap up another successful Parenting & Homeschool Convention, I'm grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate our 40th Homeschool Convention. Your commitment to making time in your busy schedules to attend demonstrates the passion and dedication you bring to your homeschooling journey.
Our theme this year, Walking in Freedom, was drawn from Psalm 119:45: "I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts" (NIV). This verse perfectly captures what we witnessed throughout the weekend—families embracing the God-given liberty to educate their children according to His calling.
The verse reminds us that walking in freedom comes directly from seeking God's precepts—His laws and His Word. When we diligently seek the Lord's direction for homeschooling, parenting, and family life, we experience genuine liberty that can only come from obedience to Him. Modeling this obedience for our children is perhaps the most important aspect of our homeschool journey. The years pass quickly, whether you're just beginning or graduating your last student. Every moment counts in the calling to homeschool.
What became abundantly clear during our time together is how precious our educational freedom truly is. As we navigated the Exhibit Hall, attended workshops, and connected with like-minded families, many of us reflected on the privilege we have to homeschool our children without government interference. This freedom isn't guaranteed. It requires vigilance and advocacy to preserve for future generations. At CHEA, we're committed to protecting this liberty, but we encourage you not to take it for granted either.
I was struck by a quote I heard recently: "When you teach your children, you are teaching your children's children." This perspective transforms our understanding of homeschooling from simply educating our children to creating a multi-generational legacy of faith and learning.
For those who attended for the first time, we hope you found the support and encouragement you needed. Our Information Booth and Homeschool Consultants are always available at these events to help navigate what can sometimes feel overwhelming.
However, CHEA's support doesn't end with the convention. Since 1982, we've been serving homeschooled families across California with the sole purpose of supporting you as you raise and disciple your children. We're here for you 365 days a year through our website, office personnel, social media, and educational consultants.
As we move forward from this wonderful weekend of connecting and learning, I encourage you to hold fast to what you've learned. Follow up with new homeschooling friends, implement one new idea that resonated with you, and remember that you were called "for such a time as this." Walk in the freedom that comes from seeking God's Word for direction on your homeschool journey. Your faithfulness today shapes not just your children, but generations to come.
