Leading a home education group is deeply rewarding, and it can also be isolating. The Leadership Conference is a full-day event designed to remind you why you started, sharpen your vision, and provide practical tools to lead well.
Sessions cover both the inspirational (rediscovering your why, casting fresh vision) and the practical (building community, financial management, involving dads). A catered lunch gives you time to connect with fellow leaders who share your calling.
All private home education group leaders are welcome. Your group does not need to be part of CHEA's Support Network to attend. We look forward to seeing you in July!

Ricardo and Ana Maria believe education is a tool to discover, nurture, and promote God-given purpose for each child, so they founded a ministry that trains and equips Hispanic families how to transform their home into the best and first place of learning under biblical principles and in a creative way. Moving from their birthplaces in South America more than 20 years ago, Ana Maria is now a Family Counselor and Ricardo holds a bachelor's degree in Christian Education. They like to cook, read, write, and camp outdoors together as they homeschool their three children.
As CHEA's Executive Director and Support Network Director, Angela Lasch gets to work every day toward her vision of families knowing they can absolutely home educate their children. As CHEA was a tremendous help to her while homeschooling her three boys, she now gets to encourage others in their homeschool journeys. She loves to come alongside homeschool leaders and assist them as they strengthen the families in their groups. She and her husband of 30+ years, Scott, also administer a PSP for their church.

Dr. Roger and Jan Smith feel that despite their successes in medicine and business in their community in Louisiana, their four adult children are their greatest accomplishment. Choosing to homeschool from the very start, and continuing through high school, the Smiths say this made all the difference in their family. The strong relationship the children share with one another and with their parents show the grace of God, and that homeschooling is worth the investment of time and energy. Roger is author of Parenting with Influence and has a video blog and podcast (Parenting Matters Now).

The Hispanic community is one of the fastest-growing demographics, yet many organizations remain hesitant to engage due to the language barrier. In this session, we will demystify outreach by focusing on the “Heart Language” of the community: culture, trust, and relationship. You will learn how to build authentic partnerships, navigate cultural nuances, and provide meaningful support without needing to be bilingual. We will cover practical strategies for communication, identifying key community influencers, and creating inclusive environments that welcome Hispanic families. Leave with a clear plan to expand your reach and make a lasting impact.

Managing a homeschool group comes with real logistical challenges, and the right technology can make a big difference. In this practical, conversation-style workshop, Marie Stout will share the tools her group relies on for communication, registration, payments, and community building. She’ll be honest about what has worked well and what still needs work. Then the floor opens up for leaders to share what their own groups are using. Come ready to learn, share, and leave with at least one new idea you can put into practice.
